After hanging out with the kitties (THAT’S RIGHT! They are now living with us again! I’m sooo happy, but T thinks I need to calm down a little with them), we went to a local doggy event! There were a lot of pretty dogs there, and even a pink ferret~
And a pink dog?!
Crazy huh?! I’m a little jealous they were getting so much attention on my birthday and not me!! It didn’t help this poodle was so well behaved….who does he think he is?! Outshining me! Well, even so, at least T got me a new toy. I haven’t been able to find it since I ripped out the stuffing though…..I bet anything T threw it away…
Meanie….
I have to forgive him though since he was SO AWESOME and made me a very special birthday cake all from scratch! It was D-lish! Completely dog-safe and dog-approved! You know, I would like a job as an official taste-tester. I would give this my paw of approval in a heartbeat!
Just look at it! That’s real cream cheese frosting there!
(Whipped with a spoonful of love~)
I even got to lick my candle after making a wish! I wonder if it will come true….
Hopefully its not another one of those ‘Santa’ gimmicks where I have to be good all year!
The first slice smelled fantastic~ It was a four layer cake with bananas and sprinkles between them.
At this point I was getting a little frustrated with all the picture taking….
Just give me a piece!!!
Please…?
Must I always wait!
SO GOOD!
Best thing I have ever eaten! It wasn’t until 3am that the cake and everything was ready, but it was well worth the wait! Too bad the kitties didn’t try any. But that’s not it for today’s update. After a year in the making, finally I present to you:
Don’t worry I haven’t forgotten about updating for my birthday!!
T is working hard on the super-top-secret-birthday-one-year-in-the-making-surprise!!! His old computer is now fixed (thank you thank you thank youuuuu~~) so he has to go through a lot of stuff on that thing, and its taking a lot longer than expected. But! He baked me an AWESOME cake on my birthday, it was sooooo tasty! When I post our super-top-secret project I will also post pictures of my birthday and talk about how super it was. Unfortunately I can’t post a teaser pic of my awesome cake because now T’s NEW comp isn’t set up and all my pics are on that haha! Don’t worry, it wont be long!!!
Ok ok, I haven’t posted in a loooong time. Again. It’s hard since so much is going on over here. T has been worrying a lot about human things and I have been busy trying to help. But you know what! I’m not going to beat myself up over it. Progress not perfection, and I’m going to try to get in the habit of posting at least once a week. I wont have set dates for when I’m going to do training videos or recipes or anything, I just want to get into the habit of actually barking on here once in a while!!
That will be my Birthday Resolution!! That’s right, MY BIRTHDAY! B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y! I will be ONE year old. Count em, ONE! Two more days until the big day! I can’t wait. T says we are going somewhere for the day, but he won’t tell me where! I’ll definitely post pictures~
Hey all! Long time with no updates, I know. But I have done a lot this past month!
I have been going to my training classes and I behave super well around other dogs now! T even got me this thing called a gentle lead which isn’t so fun for me, but he loves it….(and as much as I hate to admit, it helped me to behave).
On top of that, since I have a sensitive stomach, T has gotten me these awesome new treats I freakin’ LOVE. They are made for cats but they are perfect for training!
It’s the cod flavor and I’m telling you, these things stink so good when T opens the container! I just go crazy! T likes them a lot as well. They break into small bits easily for training and since the flavor is powerful I don’t mind em being so small. One of their small container lasts us for two 1 hour classes which is a first! Usually we go through two zip-lock bags full of treats and still need to scrounge around for more before class is even over. T gets these at Giants food store. I don’t know the normal price of them because we always get them off the clearance shelf for $4. So worth it! (you may wanna buy a gallon of soap with the purchase of this product. Trust me. Your hands will stink!!!)
Anyway, now that I am done drooling over pictures of freeze dried fish, time to tell you about how AWESOME I am!! I just finished my four week mini class of tricks and games where we all get together and pick cool tricks to learn. Since its only four 1 hour classes, we do a few little training sessions for each trick. A lot of it you have to keep working on at home, which is hard because life is so busy for T this month! Why do humans have to do so much stuff? Can’t they just relax like us doggies? Life is so much more fun that way!
During these classes we worked on putting toys away in our basket (I can retrieve a toy and drop it on command, T hasn’t really shown me how to put it in my basket yet. I’ll let you know when I can do that!). We worked on bowing which I learned in two days and can now do it on command! Its my favorite trick, I think!! Everyone thinks I’m so awesome when I do it….but its really easy hehe.
And, get this, I can bowl! That’s right! T got me a ball and a pin to knock down! I need to work on my aim, but I have to say I am preeetty good. I get a strike almost every time! T said once I get better at doing it on command he will buy me more pins to knock down~~
I think I will take some pictures or a video to show you guys how to train all your pooches! It may not be till next weekend, however, but look forward to it!!
I overheard T talking about my birthday coming up!!!! May 5th, for those of you who don’t know~ It sounds like T is planning to take me to Chincoteague. Chincoteague!!!! I know, I know, you all probably have NO clue what Chincoteague even is. T told me about it, it’s where he used to go when he was little and where he took Daemian for his birthday!
T said Daemian had the time of his life there! He even got to splash in the ocean, how brave!
Maybe he never saw shark week…
Chincoteague is a little island in Virginia connected to another called Assateague. Assateague is a long beach with, get this, HORSES! Tons of wild ponies everywhere! You can see them walking in the street even. Don’t believe me?
Almost as cute as me!
Ponies are what it is famous for, but that’s not all. There are lots of different types of birds on the island like egrets, herons, gulls, geese, swan, swallows, and quail. And since its an island, of course it will have tons of fish. And that means, you guessed it, sharks! It even has one of T’s favorites, the ragged tooth shark! The teeth on those things scare me, but it doesn’t sway me from wanting to go one bit! I may even muster up the courage to put a paw in the water.
And….don’t tell T but….I looked at his bookmarks and found some of the cottages he is thinking of renting out! I wonder if he will take me on a boat ride, too!!! T told me that they saw dolphins when they went…I just don’t wanna fall off! But it would be pretty cool if we could go fishing. Maybe we will even eat what we catch. Or go crabbing! Or hunting!!!
That all depends on money, though. Maybe I’ll try to get a job to save up, too! I bet I could charge people to pet me, hehehe. Hmm…think if I leave a picture of the cake I want up on T’s computer he will get the hint?
I’m feeling a lot better now thanks to the meds and diet I was on. My tummy has settled down and I have so much more energy (much to T’s dismay) I have been running around the house like crazy! Even though it lets out some energy, I still like to chew up all my toys now. I didn’t find it that much fun when I was younger, but there is just something about ripping out all their insides and making the living room floor a sea of white stuffing entrails that is just so satisfying. It’s strange though, now that I think about it….it seems like my toys have been disappearing lately since I have been ripping them up so much…I think T throws them out while I’m not looking. That would explain why he has been trying to buy me only stuffing-less and hard toys when we visit the pet store now.
I still can’t go to training since I have just been put on my normal diet of Natural Balance dog food and we are seeing how my tummy handles that. To make up for our missed training sessions, T has been taking me on adventures around our neighborhood. I didn’t know it was so big! We have been exploring new paths and it helps get my energy out smelling all these new smells. We even saw a bunch of vultures eating a dead thing. It looked yummy, but this other bird came and stole it from them.
The vultures sure looked funny. Their heads were bald, and some were bright red. What weird lookin’ creatures….That hawk looked cool though!
He was hard to spot at first. He saw us just fine!
Even though those vultures outnumbered him they just sat by and waited while the hawk ate.
And talking about strange creatures….
There has been this small red thing running around the house. Every time I catch it it just disappears!!! It’s real fast, too. It can even climb up walls. I don’t know where the heck it came from, but I pledge to catch the little beast if its the last thing I do!!!
Target spotted!
Go in for the attack!!!
Did’ja see where it went?
Me thinks it’s video time!!
Next time I update I’m sure to have tracked down this vicious beast. I assure you. But for now, I take my leave, it’s pretty late *coughearlycough* and I need my beauty sleep! T even let me borrow his piggy slippers for tonight~
I can’t wait for my next training class, but since I can’t have anything right now besides rice, tuna, and kibble, its going to be hard. And my kibble isn’t tasty enough to keep my attention when I have so many distractions!
T said since he wants me to have fun and go to my training, he’ll suck up giving me the smelly tuna with his bare hands…the only problem is he can’t put it in his pockets…what a dilemma! But, luckily for us, we have the Super-Duper-Handy-Dandy-Home-Depot-2-Pocket-Canvas-Apron! Say that ten times fast.
Sure, this thing may make you look a little dorky, but its such a cheap fantastic way of having treats easily accessible when your having fun with your pooch! It’s especially helpful when you are heading to your training class and the only pants that are clean don’t even have pockets. Oh my! But fret not, just tie this on, throw in treats, and head out the door! T says it’s also comfortable to wear around the house and even during our walks. He sometimes puts extra-messy treats in a zip lock bag inside the pouch. Its still easy to get to, and keeps you from having to wash the apron every time you use it.
The apron is one size fits all since its just attached by a string. It has two pockets which is super helpful since T puts different treats in each pocket. If I get too distracted by another dog he can just reach into the cheese pocket and VOILA! Pull out an extra special treat to get my attention!
You can go to your local Home Depot, Lowes, or other home improvement store and pick one up for under $1. Or, if you want to get REAL fancy, grab yourself one of the 5 pocket aprons. They do cost more by $4-5, but if you’re dog likes to be rewarded with treats and toys then its got plenty of room for both. You can even fit your a clicker, water bottle, and your cell phone in there while your at it!
Hey! Doing this review gave me a great idea! I’ll have T dork it up some more and iron-on a picture of me to the tote!
I haven’t been feeling too well again lately and I don’t know why. It has even been hard for me to concentrate on my training, which has been going great, by the way! But of course, I bet you guys didn’t expect any less from moi! I can touch my touch stick on command and have been workin’ real hard on learning this new trick T calls ‘play dead’. But T thought it was strange that I was acting up so much in class and seemed less myself at home. It seems my tummy issues from when I was a puppy have returned, along with the diarrhea!
T was worried I may have swallowed something, and thought it would be better to be safe than sorry and take me in to get a check-up. Unfortunately my normal vet was closed so we had to go to the emergency one (where I got the new cone to replace the old one I had chewed up after being fixed). The same people where there, and they were really nice. The doctor took me in back and did a check up.
After she was done she told us that it was hard to tell if something was blocking my intestines or what was going on. She also said its not uncommon for huskies to have IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) and it would be best to get pictures of my tummy taken. So she took me in back again to get an ‘x-rays’ done.
I know!!! Crazy, right?! That camera could see through me! There’s more!!
The doctor said that those dark spots by my intestines are gas pockets. For now I’m on medication to settle my tummy and another one which helps some good bacteria grow back. Before we left the vet gave me an IV for water again. And you all should know how I love water by now! I decided it would be fun to give the doctors a bit of trouble and get myself wet by chewing the cord! Bonus points for getting my toy T brought with us wet, too!
T said we are saving up to get a biopsy cause from the pictures we still cant tell if its IBD or what. I’m also on a bland diet of rice and tuna, I can’t complain!! I’m loving it~~
T is going to make another appointment to see my normal vet for a follow up. I’ll tell you all how it goes!
So T and I had our own little Christmas yesterday where I got to open even more gifts! A little late, I know, but totally worth it!
T said that some man got me all these gifts. His name is Santa. I haven’t met him, but he sounds totally awesome! He lives in the North Pole where its super duper cold. T told me that some people think deer pull his sleigh, but its really huskies!! How cool is that?! When I grow up I want to pull Santa’s sleigh, too!
And Santa only gives gifts to nice dogs, otherwise they get a lump of coal. I guess he thought I was preeeettty good considering how many gifts he got me! Ha! I’ll be pulling his sleigh in no time at this rate.
I bet you all wanna see what he got me, huh?! Get ready for a ton of pics!
NEXT!
They were even wrapped nicely. I almost felt bad opening them. Almost.
Sorry for the flash! T’s camera takes bad pictures without it sometimes.
Another?! Give! Give!
This one has to be one of my favs so far! I like how it squeaks~
T kept trying to take pictures, but I wouldn’t stay still! That’s what he gets for
always flashing that camera in my face while I’m trying to have fun.
This one was a real challenge to open…
But I did it! I like my froggy, isn’t he cute?
This paper was my favorite!!! It had super cute little huskies on it. Almost as cute as me!
I think we need a close up on this one, I’m just too cute!
Closer!
D’awwwwwwwwwwww
*ahem* Anyway, on to the gifts—
These ones are cool cause they have ropes on them and
they squeak. They also seem really sturdy so maybe I won’t rip ‘em up so fast!
How fun! I love Christmas, even late ones!!! I can’t wait for that fat man to visit next year!
I promise, I’ll be even gooder next year and he’ll just HAVE to have me on his sled team!
Toys, toys, toys galore!!!!
Thank you, Santa!
I wonder if he was the one that made it snow, too!? It didn’t snow much, but it was SO fun! I kept wanting to run while T and I took a walk. I don’t know why other people complain about this dreary weather so much, T and I love it! Sadly T didn’t take many good pictures of me in the snow.
It tasted good.
Thank you all for reading! How bout one more close-up for the road?
This one had to be the most fun yet! It was a real challenge to behave with all those other dogs around, (especially since I haven’t been in class since my surgery), but I did! T was so proud of me!!! (and who wouldn’t be, I mean…come on, right?)
Tricks and Games class its called. You all must be wondering "Fenris, tell me, what is this class you speak of?" Well, my friends, it's where only the most amazing dogs of their time get together and lean the coolest and newest and funnest tricks of all! It is not for the faint of heart, I assure you. Us doggies get to learn things like rolling over, playing dead, how to back up on command, push a ball back and forth, and other neato tricks!
One thing that makes this class fun is that we get to show off, but I think the best part is getting to bond with T. Its so much fun to work together! Plus, its not like I need to show off anyway, huh? I'm just naturally awesome!
We are using a clicker in this class, T has introduced it once before when I was really little but we never really used it. I think its helpful though, however loud it may be. Its a little confusing hearing it coming from all directions in the classroom, but I can always tell when its T clicking mine! It lets me know when I did something right and when I am understanding what T wants me to do!
Right now we are learning play dead, which I'm already excelling at! T and I are going to practice a ton at home to master everything! We are also going to retake our advanced manners class since I missed the last two lessons. I'm still a little too hyper to pass my good citizenship test at the moment...at least T thinks so. He is still amazed at how well I did during class though and keeps telling me how good I am all day, hehe.
Next Sunday when I update I plan on giving a little tips for training, so look forward to it!
